Silverbacks sign a defenseman for 2024/25

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have signed defenseman Carson Olsen (’06) for the 2024/25 season.

Olsen brings in Junior hockey experience, playing last season in the SJHL with the Battlefords North Stars, where the 5’11 defenseman scored 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 51 games. The 18-year-old added four points in eight playoff games for the North Stars.

“We’ve been really impressed with how mature Carson’s game is for a young defenseman,” said Silverbacks GM, Brooks Christensen. “He’s a mobile, puck-moving defenseman who plays with an edge and is tough to play against. Carson will be a great addition to our returning group and look for him to continue to develop as a young prospect within our organization.”

The Warman, Saskatchewan product is committed to the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

“I know Salmon Arm will be a good fit for me considering what they have to offer and the opportunity they are giving me,” said Olsen. “I am very excited to come and play in Salmon Arm and fulfill my childhood dream of playing hockey in BC. The BCHL is a very high end league with a lot of talented players and should be really good competition.”

The Silverbacks would like to welcome Carson and his family to the organization and to Salmon Arm!
