Backs Welcome Grizzlies to Shaw Centre

SALMON ARM, BC The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are coming off an impressive 8-2 victory on home ice last night against the Wenatchee Wild. The Backs got contributions from up and down the lineup in a game that saw two players score their first BCHL goals. Isaac Lambert scored his first goal midway through the first period last night and added his second in the middle frame. In the third period, Nathan Morin made a pretty move to the backhand and slid it five-hole for his first BCHL goal. Morin scored four in the preseason, but this was his first regular-season goal. Defenceman Lucas Matta continued his scoring ways, adding a marker in the opening period. He now has goals in three of the last four games. His elevated play is an excellent sign for the Silverbacks with the absence of 20-year-old defenceman Kieran Rushcheniski. Owen Say was solid again in the cage for the Backs last night, stopping 26 of 28. Liam Vanderkooi could get the call tonight against the Victoria Grizzlies; his last start came in the Backs’ first game at the showcase vs Coquitlam. He stopped 20 of 22. The Silverbacks are getting depth from up and down the lineup, and it is showing with their 5-0-1 record this season.

A Look at the Opposition

Tonight they welcome the Victoria Grizzlies to the Shaw Centre. The Two teams haven’t met since the 2019-20 Playoffs. It was the Silverbacks sweeping the Grizzlies in the first-round matchup. The Grizzlies are coming into tonight’s contest with an emotional 5-3 overtime victory against the Vernon Vipers at Kal Tire Place. They hold a 6-2 record on the season, good for second in the Coastal Division. Like Noah Serdachny and Simon Tassy, the Grizzlies have a duo of their own. Matthew Wood and Connor Eddy have a combined 32 points in eight games, a pair that the Silverbacks will have to keep a close eye on. Wood leads the league in scoring with 17 points and 11 goals. Tickets are still available for tonight’s game! Stop by the box office this afternoon to secure your seat! A reminder that all fans 12 and up must be FULLY Vaccinated and show proof of vaccination before entering the Shaw Centre! Also, tomorrow is the Halloween game! There will be a Costume Contest, and the winner will be announced during the second intermission. So kids, be sure to dress up! There will be candy bags during the game as well!!!
