The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are excited to announce forward Matthew Verboon has committed to join Colgate University. In his first year with the Silverbacks, Verboon leads the team in points (20) and power play goals (4). He has been one of the most consistent producers on the Salmon Arm squad never going more than two games without a point.
Last season playing in Switzerland, Verboon with the U20 Genève-Servette won the league championship. A dual citizen, Verboon played for Team Switzerland last season in the U-18 World Junior Championships.
“We are very excited to hear that Matthew Verboon has committed to Colgate University. We feel this is a great fit athletically and academically for both Matt and Colgate,” said Silverbacks GM and Head Coach Scott Atkinson.
“I’m so happy to have joined the Raiders family. I think their prestigious school along with a great hockey team were the perfect match for me both on and off the ice,” added Matthew Verboon.
This weekend, Verboon and his teammates take on the Merritt Centennials Friday and Wenatchee Wild in the Shaw Centre. Both home games begin at 7pm, with the pre-game show on 91.5 EZ Rock kicking off at 6:45. Tickets can be purchased at the Shaw Centre box office.
