Top Line Fuels Victory

With revenge in mind, the Salmon Arm Silverbacks came storming into Trail on Friday – after going winless in their last 4 games overall; despite having picked up points in 6 of their last 8 games.

Evan Anderson posted three points for the 'Backs in the contest, including the game-wining goal, en route to a 5-3 victory.

In the 1st period of play, from the Cominco Arena in Trail, The Smoke Eaters opened the scoring when Jake Kappaulia beat Adam Clark on a 2-1 to open the scoring.

The SilverBacks responded when Captain Blake Box jumped up into the rush for his 1st goal of the season; from Anderson and Smith. Shots were 12-5 after 1 Period for the 'Backs.

In the 2nd period , Trail once again grabbed the lead on a wrist-shot by D Man Sean Davis; beating Adam Clark high side to make it 2-1.

The 'Backs tied it once again, when Alex Gillies scored on the Power-play – getting helpers from his top line with Anderson and Smith to draw even at 2-2. The Silverbacks out-shot Trail 26-15 through the first 40 minutes.
In the 3rd, Thomas Plese connected on the rush thanks to Brett Fagerheim and Alex Jewell, to make the game 3-2 Salmon Arm. Dakota Kittle tied the game at 3, but Evan Anderson re-gained the 'Backs lead on the power-play to make it 4-3 before Landon Smith picked up his 21st goal; and his league leading 45th point of the year, with the empty netter as the 'Backs took a 5-3 win from Trail.

With the Road Win, the SilverBacks are now back to .500 on the Road this season, moving up to a record of 6-6-1-2.
