Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks finished off their BCHL Showcase against the Victoria Grizzlies.

The first period was the definition of an even battle to start off the second Showcase game. Neither team found the back of the net or was called for any penalties in a back-an-forth opening frame. Shots on goal after the first period was tied 10-10.

The Silverbacks broke the goose egg and got on the board in the second period. Starting off with some turbulence, Kaycee Coyle was called for a trip, the first penalty of the game and the first successful penalty kill for the Silverbacks. Getting a chance on the powerplay with Tyson Moss taking an interference penalty, but unable to take advantage. Once again it was Kaycee Coyle getting his second tripping penalty of the period to force the Silverbacks shorthanded. Salmon Arm remained perfect while down a man, killing off another penalty. With a minute and a half left in the frame, Tanner Walos battles his way into the corner of offensive territory and connects on a back-door pass to a sneaking in Sawyer Prokopetz for his first of the season, first as a Silverbacks.

No scoring in the third period as the Silverbacks hang on to the win. The Silverbacks had two more opportunities on the powerplay in the final frame but where not able to add onto their lead. Pushing for the insurance goal, the Silverbacks outshot Victoria 15-4 in the period.

Ryan Grout gets his second shutout of the season, stopping 20/20.
