SilverBacks Top Division Leading Vees

The Shaw Centre faithful were treated to a huge 'Back's win on Friday, as Alex Gillies popped home two goals; in a 5-2 win over the Penticton Vees.

Penticton opened the scoring, mid-way through a penalty-less 1st frame, when Josh Blanchard scored to make it 1-0, minutes before Max Becker notched his first ever BCHL goal to tie the game; Alex Gillies then followed up with his 10th marker of the season for a 2-1 'Backs advantage, after the 1st Period.

Adam Clark made 9 of his 31 saves in the 2nd Period, allowing Evan Anderson to make it a 3-1 SilverBacks game, late in the frame.

Landon Smith scored his 6th goal in the past four games; to provide Salmon Arm with a 4-1 lead, before Alex GIllies notched his 2nd goal of the game, this time into an empty net, as the Vees looked to score on a power-play by pulling their goaltender.

Penticton did make the score closer; with a late goal to bring the score to 5-2, but it ultimately wasn’t enough; as The Backs managed the high-powered Vees through-out the Evening, thanks to stellar goaltending and timely goals.

Salmon Arm hosts Vernon on Saturday, also at the Shaw Centre, for a 7pm start.
