Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks hosted the Penticton Vees for the third time this year, looking for the first win of the season in the matchup.

The Silverbacks were able to grab the lead in the first period. With two minutes left, Aaron VanWie gets sent on a breakaway by a beautiful stretch pass from Ben MacBeath and VanWie makes no mistake, sliding it five hole for his first career BCHL goal. The Silverbacks had the only powerplay opportunity in the period but were unable to capitalize on it. The shots on goal were an even 7-7 in the opening frame.

Tying up the game in the second period, the Vees took full control. Five minutes in, Louie Wehmann burst down the left wing and picked the top corner from the top of the faceoff dot to tie the game up 1-1. Shortly after, the Silverbacks took their first penalty of the game but were able to successfully kill it off. In the middle frame, Penticton took control, outshooting the Silverbacks 16-5.

Regaining the lead and getting the win was the Silverbacks in the third period. Halfway through, a phenomenal passing play entering the offensive zone turned into a brief three-on-one where Aaron VanWie again found the back of the net, sneaking back door for the 2-1 game. In a change of periods, it was the Silverbacks whole took control of the final frame, outshooting the Vees 16-7.
