Silverbacks take down Crusaders 5-2 at home

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks welcomed the Sherwood Park Crusaders to Rogers Rink for the first time in franchise history.

The Silverbacks jump out to the big lead in the first period. Four minutes in, Riley Ashe finds the back of the net for his third goal of the season. Continuing the pressure, Roenick Jodoin scores a powerplay goal at the nine minute mark to extend the lead 2-0.

Holding onto the lead with two more goals in the second period. Getting on the board, the Sherwood Park Crusaders get a goal from Tristan Buckley to cut into the lead. Coming out of the media timeout, Payton Nelson gets the two goal lead back with his sixth of the season. Pushing the lead further, Cole Cooksey snipes home his second of the year in the final two minutes to make it a 4-1 game.

Each team find the back of the net in the third period as the Silverbacks hold onto the lead.  In the first minute and a half, Tommy Cronin scores his first career BCHL goal when he rips one past to make it a 5-1 game. The Crusaders are on the powerplay at the three and a half minute mark. On the man advantage, Poul Andersen sends a one-timer home to make it a 5-2 game.

Andrew Ballantyne makes 23/25 saves in the win.
