Silverbacks sink the Clippers 4-1

Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks traveled out to the island to start off a three game road trip against the Nanaimo Clipeprs.

The Silverbacks came out of the tunnel firing in the first period. In the first minute and a half, Jaden Johnson picks up the puck at the face off dot and tries for a centering pass, the puck banks off the defenders leg and into the back of the net for Johnson’s 3rd of the season. A powerplay opportunity goes by the wayside later in the first frame as it remains a 1-0 game.

Both teams score in the second period as the Silverbacks remain in the lead. The Clippers are able to tie up the game when Elliot Perreault snipes one top corner, making it 1-1. As the middle frame is coming to an end, Anthony Cardilli makes moves around the defenders and pops it short side to get his first goal in the BCHL in the final two seconds to regain the lead, 2-1. The Silverbacks killed off two penalties in the second period.

Adding onto the lead, Salmon Arm busts the game wide open. Within the first four minutes, the Silverbacks head onto their second powerplay of the game and this time capitalize. The Captain, Tanner Walos, tips home his 3rd of the year to make it 3-1. In the final 5 minutes, Keifer Miller picks up the loose puck in the offensive zone and works his way to an open slot shot and makes no mistake, scoring his 2nd of the year, 4-1.
