Salmon Arm, BC – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have announced the signing of D Matthew Gillard (05′) for the 2023/24 season.
Gillard is currently playing for the the Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 Prep Team (CSSHL). The defenseman has scored twice, while also adding 7 assists in 17 games played. He also has 68 minutes this season, which is the most on the Xtreme.
Silverbacks General Manager, Brooks Christensen said the team is looking forward to adding Matthew to the organization.
“Matthew brings a physical edge to his game, something we feel we need on our roster. He defends hard, tough to play against and has a strong skating ability. Matthew is coming from a strong program in NAX and we’re excited to follow his season before joining us next season.”
Gillard says he is excited about the next opportunity in his hockey journey.
