Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks hit the road for a Sunday afternoon game against the Vernon Vipers.

The Silverbacks find themselves trailing after a special teams miscue in the first period. Halfway through the period, while on the powerplay, the Silverbacks turnover the puck at the red line which sends Shea Busch in a shorthanded breakaway and he makes no mistake, 1-0 Vernon. Despite trailing, the Silverbacks outshot the Vipers 13-8.

The Captain ties up the game for the Silverbacks in the second period. With four minutes left in the middle frame, Maddux Martin tips home a point shot from Ben MacBeath to tie up the game, 1-1. Neither team took a penalty in the period.

Both teams score in the third period to send this game to overtime. To start off the period, the Silverbacks find themselves in trouble with a five-on-three disadvantage when Cole Cooksey gets a high-sticking double minor and Sawyer Prokopetz gets an unsportsmanlike conduct. A massive penalty kill by the Silverbacks keeps the game tied. Right after, Vernon takes back-to-back penalties which gives Salmon Arm the two-man advantage. On the powerplay, Cole Cooksey scores his fourth of the season to give the Silverbacks their first lead of the game, 2-1. Three minutes later the Vipers go on another breakaway with Corban Almen finding himself alone and ties up the game, 2-2.

There was only one shot on goal for either team in overtime and it was on a breakaway from Shea Busch to score the game winner for Vernon.

Andrew Ballantyne gets his second overtime loss of the season, making 27/30 saves.
