Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks hosted the Brooks Bandits for the first time this year at Rogers Rink.
The Bandits put up three in the first to take the lead. In the first three and a half minutes, Mathis Dufour gets the rebound goal to take the 1-0 lead. At the seven minute mark, Wyatt Dreger gets a five minute major and a game misconduct for an illegal check to the head, sending the BCHL’s number one powerplay to the advantage. They were able to capitalize when Dufour scores his second of the game on a two-on-one rush, 2-0. While still shorthanded, Koen Senft intercepts a drop pass and goes in on the rush and snipes it by the goalie for the Silverbacks second short handed goal of the season, Senft’s 8th, 2-1. Answering back, Alexei Zhukov makes it a two-goal game again, 3-1. Before the period is over, Koen Senft and Leon Bussmann dropped the gloves for a fight.
Brooks scores two more to push the lead. A couple of minutes in, Jack Good pushes the lead for the Bandits, making it 4-1. Not done yet, Liam Fitzpatrick whacks at a rebound in front for the 5-1 lead. Going on their second powerplay of the night to end the middle frame, the Silverbacks look to grab some momentum. Cole Longacre rushes down the right wing and snaps the puck five-hole for his 5th of the season, 5-2.
With another goal, the Bandits put the game away in the third. Jack Rosensteel rifles a one-timer on the odd man rush to make it a 6-2 game. The Silverbacks were able to kill off a penalty to end the game.
Daniel Dirracolo stopped 26/32 in the loss.
