Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have signed forward Payton Nelson (’05) for the 2024/25 season.
Nelson comes in with junior hockey experience having spent the last two years playing in the USHL and the NAHL. Last season, the 5’11”, 175-pound forward split last season between the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL, where he had 1 goal and 1 assist in 29 games, and the Minnesota Wilderness in the NAHL, where he scored 7 goals and 7 assists in 24 games.
“Payton will be a great addition to our lineup heading into next season,” said Silverbacks GM, Brooks Christensen. “We feel he will bring a compete and an edge to his game and maturity to our forward group.”
Before heading to the USHL, the Centennial, Colorado product scored 92 points in 61 games with the Colorado Thunderbirds 16U AAA team.
“I’m very excited for a new opportunity in a different league,” said Nelson. “I have heard nothing but great things about the city. I am looking forward to the start of the year!”
The Silverbacks would like to welcome Payton and his family to the organization and to Salmon Arm!
