Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks continued their road trip with a matchup against the Blackfalds Bulldogs.
The score sheet was empty in the first period that saw the Silverbacks take control. Neither team found the back of the net or took a penalty in the opening 20 minutes. In the period, the Silverbacks outshot the Bulldogs, 16-7.
Salmon Arm grabs the lead in the second period. In the first two minutes, Antonio Bevacqua forces a turnover at the end boards and feeds Tanner Walos in the slot for his 2nd goal of the season, make it 1-0. Scott Miner takes the first penalty of the game for hooking but it’s a successful penalty kill.
Striking back is the Bulldogs in the third period to tie up the game. Another early goal in this game as within the first two minutes, the Bulldogs captain, Joey Melo takes the puck around the net and finishes it off short side to tie up the game, 1-1. In the final three minutes of the game, Riley Ashe crushes his man into the boards and gets called or a 5 minutes major and a game misconduct for boarding.
The Bulldogs grab a goal and the win in overtime. Starting off the extra frame, the Silverbacks kill off the remaining penalty time against Riley Ashe. Shortly after, halfway through overtime, Juan Copeland goes end-to-end and sneaks one into the net for the Bulldogs win.
Daniel Dirracolo made 24/26 saves in his BCHL debut for the Silverbacks.
