Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks hit the road to face the Penticton Vees for the first time this season.
The Silverbacks got a hot start in the first period but is was answered back for the Vees lead. Two minutes in, Liam Bursaw crashed hard on the forecheck where he would take the puck away from Vees goalie, Will Ingemann behind the net and find a wide open Aidan Willis in front of the net for an easy open net tap in. Halfway through the period, the Vees had a powerplay, with Riley Ashe in the box with a hooking penalty, Landon Wright finds the puck in the high slot and sends one through traffic to tie up the game, 1-1. In the final two minutes, Julian Wasmer sends a shot on net from the blue line and once again it gets through bodies in front of the net for the Vees lead, 2-1.
In the second period, the Silverbacks were able to tie things up. The Silverbacks had a chance on the powerplay late in the period with Connor Hellyer taking a tripping penalty. With the man-advantage, Maddux Martin hammers home a rebound for his fifth goal of the season, tying this up at 2-2.
The Vees took control in the third period. Once again on the powerplay, this time with Patrick Raftery in the box for roughing, Luke Posthumus rips one through a screened goalie to give the Vees the lead, 3-2 with their second powerplay goal of the game. The Silverbacks push for the tie in the final two minutes, pulling the goalie and having an extra attacker out. With the net empty, Nolan Stevenson sends one the length of the ice to put the game away, 4-2.
Ryan Grout is handed his first loss in regulation this season, making 39/42 saves.
