Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks returned to Rogers Rink for the first meeting of the season against the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

The Silverbacks jump out to a hot start in the first period. In the first 30 seconds, Jack Toogood crashes the net and hammers home a rebound for his 2nd of the season, making it a quick 1-0. Salmon Arm would have to kill off two penalties to end the frame. It was a high shots on goal period, 16-12 in favour of the Silverbacks.

Tying up the game in the second period, the Crusaders find the back of the net. Erik Kald grabs the puck in the high slot and wires it by to tie up this game, 1-1. Shortly after, the Silverbacks get their first powerplay of the game but can not take advantage.

Both teams find a goal in the third period to keep this game evened up. Two minutes in, Sherwood Park gets their first lead of the night when Cooper Sharp scores to make it 2-1. A golden opportunity for the Silverbacks halfway through the period when back-to-back penalties gives them a 5-on-3 man advantage. Making no mistake, Luke Lepper rips his 2nd of the season to tie the game up 2-2 and sending it to overtime.

Overtime solves nothing as we need even more hockey and for the second time this season, the Silverbacks are headed to a shootout at home. It took four rounds but the Crusaders and Erik Kald get the win. In shootout it was Brady Logue, Mateu Späth, Liam Bursaw, and Keifer Miller unable to score.

Daniel Dirracolo takes the loss, stopping 23/25 shots faced.
