Salmon Arm, B.C. – The Salmon Arm Silverbacks welcomed in the top team in the BCHL, the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
The Silverbacks take the lead after a lop sided first period. Cowichan Valley get the first tally in the opening two minutes when Havyril Simchuk gets his first BCHL goal, 1-0. Four minutes later, Anthony Cardilli gets sprung on a brief breakaway and makes no mistake, lifting it over the out stretched pad for his 6th of the season, 1-1. In the final three minutes, it’s another breakaway and another beautiful move this time by Brady Logue finishing off his team-tied 7th of the year, 2-1. In the dying minute, an add-man rush sees the Silverbacks execute a perfect passing play, finished off by Mateu Späth tapping in his team-tied 7th of the season, 3-1.
Cowichan storms back in the second. Halfway in, Teddy Richardson snipes the corner to make it a one-goal game, 3-2. A minute later, the Silverbacks head to the penalty kill with Anthony Preskar sitting for a holding penalty. On the man-advantage, Ryan Harvey sends a clean point shot through traffic to tie the game up, 3-3. To end the period, Tanner Walos and Carter DeKay drop the gloves after DeKay gets a boarding penalty on a big hit.
No scoring in the third period as this game needs more hockey. The final frame gets started with a golden opportunity for the Silverbacks when 18 seconds in they are gifted a powerplay but are unable to capitalize. Shots on the goal in the third period was 10-7 in favour of Salmon Arm.
A quick overtime sees the Silverbacks take the win. Two minutes in, Jack Toogood gets the puck behind the defenceman and finishes the game with a nifty backhand shot for his 4th of the season, 4-3 Silverbacks win.
Daniel Dirracolo stops 25/28 in his even 10th win of the season.
