Silverbacks Back To Back Wins

CHILLWACK, B.C.  SEPTEMBER 21, 2017

The Silverbacks (2-4) have put together back-to-back victories, following a 3-2 overtime win over the Surrey Eagles (1-2-1-1) on Thursday at the Bauer BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack.

The Silverbacks trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes, but the Eagles lead 20-2 on the shot clock. S’backs scored the lone goal of the second period and in the final 3 seconds, Rhett Kingston’s third of the season gave the Silverbacks a 1-0 lead into the third. Surrey lead 11-9 on the shot clock in the second, 31-11 Eagles overall.

Marcus Mitchell gave the Silverbacks their second lead of the game, 2-1 with Mitchell’s second of the season and on the power-play at 6:03. Surrey tied the game 2-2 with 3:33 remaining in the third period. The Eagles outshot the Silverbacks 16-6 in the final period of regulation.  Austin Chorney’s first of the season ended the game at 2:18 of the first overtime period.

Each team had one shot on goal in the extra period, as Surrey outshot Salmon Arm 48-18 total. Nic Tallarico stopped 46 shots in the victory.

The Silverbacks finished 1-for-4 on the power-play on Thursday, and 7-for-7 on the penalty-kill. Salmon Arm was 15-for-15 on the PK in the back-to-back games.

Salmon Arm won it’s first game of the regular season, 3-2 over the Cowichan Valley Capitals (1-3) on Wednesday at the Prospera Centre.

The Silverbacks will have this weekend off of game action, as Salmon Arm gets set for back-to-back home games next weekend. The Coquitlam Express (0-3-1-0) will visit the Shuswap on Friday, September 29th and the Silverbacks will host the Trail Smoke Eaters (2-1-0-1) on Saturday, September 30th. Each game will begin at 7pm at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm.
