Scott Atkinson Receives Minor Hockey Award

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are excited to announce that Head Coach Scott Atkinson has received the President’s Award from Minor Hockey! The award is presented to a person who has made a very significant contribution to minor hockey in the past year.

“He did a great a job on the ice with the kids during the skill sessions.   Being on the ice with during his session was very rewarding for myself as I absorbed as much as I could during his instructions. But my real reason was his interaction with the kids off the ice. Whether he was doing his laps around spectator, wondering the hall or standing outside his office door, he would always make time to talk to the kids. He would know who each kid was, who they played for and know how things were going during their season. Too see Scotty and the kids interact and share the love of the game and see the smiles and their faces for me was such an amazing thing to see. It was clear that these kids meant a lot to him and Scotty meant a lot to the kids. For that is the reason I choose Scotty for the presidents award,” said Salmon Arm Minor Hockey President Joel de Boer.

“In the case of Scott, he was responsible for the delivery of the very successful Silverback skills program that our minor hockey players from atom and up were fortunate to experience. The relationship he has helped build with Salmon Arm Minor Hockey has been exceptional. We can only see a greater working partnership with the Silverback organization and SAMHA,” said Minor Hockey Administrator Roy Sakaki.

The Silverbacks are proud of all the work Scott Atkinson has done with Minor Hockey, and the team looks forward to growing the program more in the future!
