Say Commits to Mercyhurst

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are pleased to announce that 20-year old goaltender Owen Say has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Mercyhurst University.

The London, ON product is in his second season with the Backs and is off to an incredible start to the season, with a 7-0-1 record.

Owen Say spoke about how the grogram here in Salmon Arm has helped him take the next step.

“Salmon Arm has helped me prepare for the next step by giving me every opportunity to prove myself and giving me every tool I need to make myself better each day,” said Say. “I can’t thank my teammates and coaching staff enough for their help and support through my time being here,” added Say.

Say’s first season in a Backs uniform was in last year’s Pod, where he posted a 7-6-1 record with a 2.82 GAA and a .907 SV%.

Say added that he is excited to get a chance to work with guys at the next level.

“The biggest thing that attracted me to Mercyhurst was that they consistently do well with their goaltending. They have great support from Assistant Coach Greg Gardner and Goaltending Coach Ryan Zapolski and showed great interest in me and the way I play,” explained Say.

Head Coach and Assistant General Manager Tyler Shattock commented on the news.

We are incredibly excited for Owen. Mercyhurst is getting a great goaltender and person. We look forward to what he does in goal for us the rest of the year, and we wish him the best as he takes the next step in his career.

We look forward to seeing Owen excel at the next level!
