Sansbury Named Captain for 2020-21 Season

Salmon Arm, B.C. — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are thrilled to announce that defenceman Hunter Sansbury has been named team captain for the 2020-21 BCHL season.

Sansbury made an immediate impact in his first season in Salmon Arm, not only with his 24 points from the back-end — which ranked top-10 amongst rookie defencemen in the BCHL — but also with how he handled himself both on and off the ice.

“I am honoured to be named captain of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks for this upcoming season,” Sansbury said. “I’m looking forward to helping lead this team to a championship with all my brothers around me: through battle and anything else that comes our way. This team, this opportunity, this community means everything to me.”

The Lomita, CA native led by example, always stood up for his teammates and never took a shift off.

“We believe Hunter is everything you want in a captain,” Silverbacks general manager Brooks Christensen said. “He’s an unbelievable teammate that is willing to do anything for the team. We know Hunter will represent our organization to the best of his ability and wear the captaincy with pride.

“He’s also an outstanding young man who is great in the community and is always pushing people around him to be better. Building the culture of our organization starts with Hunter.”

This will be Sansbury’s final year of junior hockey.

The Silverbacks will announce the assistant captains that will be joining Hunter at the conclusion of main camp, which begins next week.
