One Short On Home Territory

Different night, same result unfortunately for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks; who dropped another close, one goal game on Saturday Night, at the Shaw Center in Salmon Arm, by a score of 3-2 to the Victoria Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies were hungry early in the 1st period, after coming off a 4-4 tie in Trail the night before, out-shooting the Silverbacks 17-10 in the opening period, before scoring 19:02 into the frame, when Cole Pickup picked up the game's opening goal from Rory McGuire and Jay Mackie as he beat Adam Clark short-side. Clark made his second appearance in net for the Backs; in as many nights, making a total of 37 saves in the loss.

Victoria wasn't done there; as later in the 2nd period, another late goal went in against the 'Backs, when Myles Fitzgerald scored, as Victoria's top line connected on a nice one-timer for a 2-0 lead.

In the 3rd, the Silverbacks found their life and made a dramatic come-back which got the crowd roaring. The first goal was thanks to AP call-up Nick Josephs; who got a nice one-timer feed from Thomas Plese and that opened the scoring for the 'Backs.

Landon Smith then buried a goal by bouncing on an Evan Anderson re-bound, netting his 13th; and league leading 30th point of the campaign.

Unfortunately for Salmon Arm, Victoria scored on the Power-play with in the 3rd period's final 5 minutes of play when Schwartz put in a shot from the slot beating Clark making it 3-2 a Grizzlies advantage untill the buzzer.

The Backs will be back in action next Saturday NightNovember the 9th, when they host the Trail Smoke Eaters!
