Mylymok Makes Team Canada West

Salmon Arm, B.C. — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are pleased to announce forward Luke Mylymok has made the final cut for Team Canada West for the upcoming World Jr. A Challenge.

The 18-year-old will wear #21 for the international tournament, which begins on Dec. 7 and runs until Dec. 15 in Dawson Creek, B.C. The BCHL is the most represented of the five ‘Western’ Junior A leagues on Canada West, as 10 other BCHL players will also don the red and white.

“After months of preparation and identifying players, it was great to gather in Calgary for a highly competitive camp and allow our players to compete for a spot on Team Canada West,” Jamie McCaig, director of operations for Team Canada West, said in a press release. “We are excited to have our final roster selected, and our staff and players are excited for the opportunity to represent Canada and compete for a gold medal in Dawson Creek.”

Canada West’s first game is Dec. 7 against the United States. The annual tournament features five teams: Canada West, Canada East, Russia, the United States and the Czech Republic. Team Canada West has won gold five times (2006, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2017), silver three times (2008, 2009, 2012) and bronze twice (2013, 2018).

All games will be broadcast on the Hockey Canada website and on Hockey TV. TSN and RDS will broadcast the bronze and gold medal games on Dec. 15.
