Salmon Arm, BC – It was quite the month for Silverbacks’ Goalie, Matthew Tovell. The 21-year-old has been named the BCHL’s 3rd Star for the month of January.
Tovell played seven games in January, where he posted some impressive numbers over that span (4-2-0-1, 1.53 GAA, .951 Save Percentage, 195 Saves, 2 Shutouts). The netminder provided the team with a stable presence in between the pipes which has helped propel the Silverbacks to a three game win streak.
His 15 wins (T 6th), .924 Save Percentage (3rd), 2.62 GAA (5th), 4 Shutouts (3rd) have him ranked in the top six of every major goaltender category in the BCHL through his 30 games this season.
January was one for the ages for Tovell as the recognition didn’t stop here. He was also recently named the BCHL 2nd Star of the Week (Jan 23-29), as well as representing the Silverbacks at the BCHL All Star Game. Tovell also celebrated his 21st birthday on the 24th of January.
