Home & Home Series Starts Tonight

SALMON ARM, B.C.  DECEMBER 29th, 2016

The Silverbacks (15-18-1-2) return to action tonight on the road versus the Vernon Vipers (18-13-2-2) at 7pm, the Silverbacks will host the Vipers tomorrow (Friday) at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm at 7pm.

The Silverbacks moved into their Christmas break following a weekend split versus the number one ranked team in the BCHL, the Penticton Vees (28-6-0-1). Salmon Arm beat up on the Vees 5-2 on Saturday night, December 17th at the Shaw Centre.

The Vipers lead the season series with three wins and one tie. The Silverbacks fell 7-3 in Vernon on December 14th, the two teams tied 4-4 in Salmon Arm on December 9th. And the Vipers began the season series with back-to-back victories, 5-3 in Vernon on September 10th and 6-3 in Salmon Arm on September 9th.

Salmon Arm is 4-1-1-1 in December, 5-9-1-0 on home ice, and 10-10-1-1 in the Interior. The Vipers are 4-1-2-0 in the final month of 2016, Vernon is 10-3-0-1 at home and 10-6-2-1 within the division.

The Silverbacks have been outscored 151-117 in 36 games, Vernon has outscored it’s opponents 116-108 in 36 games.

Salmon Arm has 516 penalty-minutes, the third highest total in the BCHL behind the Vipers with 535 and the Nanaimo Clippers (14-18-1-5) sit atop with 543.

The Backs also made a trade acquiring 99 D-Man Austin Chorney from the Chilliwack Chiefs for Future considerations and released 99 D-Man Landon Fuller.
