Gillies Tops BCHL Ranks According To Scouts

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks are very proud to announce that 18 year old Forward Alex Gillies has been listed among the top draft-eligible, North American Skaters, in this Summer's NHL Entry Draft by NHL Central Scouting Services.

Seven other BCHL skaters, and two goaltenders, were included in the list that was released on Monday.

Coming in at #102, Gillies is ranked higher than any other Skater in the BCHL, and General Manager, and Head Coach Troy Mick says that's a testament to his improvement over three years in Salmon Arm "It was clear when Alex arrived in Salmon Arm, that he had a high level of talent, and incredible offensive abilities, and we've seen that his growth as a player, student, and person has helped him prepare for his future with the Michigan Tech Huskies, and possibly the NHL."

Gillies was previously ranked as a 'C' Skater by Central Scouting, in November, which means scouts see him falling into the later rounds of the NHL Draft.

Of the nine other players listed by Central Scouting, seven come for the BCHL's highly competitive Interior Division.

The 2014 NHL Entry Draft will be held June 27 and 28 at Wells Fargo Centre in Phliadelphia.
