Keep the Strong Starts Coming: The Backs had another strong start on Saturday, scoring the first goal for the 11th time this season, while also out-shooting Vernon 18-7 in the first period.

Backs Top Line in Warriors Nightmares: Sullivan Mack, Noah Serdachny and Simon Tassy have combined for 37 points in their six head-to-head games against West Kelowna this season. Serdachny and Tassy each have 13 points, while Mack has 11.

Step Forward for Special Teams: On Saturday, the Backs power play went 1-for-3, scoring for the first time in five games. The penalty kill was very good and went 2-for-2.

Short Squad: The West Kelowna Warriors are without captain Elan Bar-Lev-Wise, who is still serving his nine-game suspension, and they’ve also missed the services of Marcus Joughin badly, who sits second in team scoring with 13 points. They’ve been forced to play with 10 forwards for a couple games now.

High Scoring Affairs: After a 2-1 score to start the pod season between the Backs and Warriors, the teams have now combined for 42 goals in the last five head-to-head meetings. That’s a lot of goals.

Players to Watch

Matta scored a big goal to get the Backs to within one late in the third on Saturday and he also assisted on Tassy’s game-opening goal. The rookie played a ton of minutes Saturday because the team had to roll five defencemen.

He has three points in his last four games.

Cristall has scored against the Silverbacks in four straight games now. Seven of his 10 points this season have come against the Backs.
