The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have acquired defenceman Darren Rizzolo from the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in exchange for defenceman Ethan McLaughlin and future considerations.

Rizzolo in his fourth BCHL season has one goal and ten assists in 26 games to go along with 22 penalty minutes. In 176 career BCHL games, the Mission, BC native has a combined 10 goals and 38 assists. A product of the Yale Hockey Academy, Rizzolo was named the CSSHL Top Defenceman in the 2014-15 season.

In his first season with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, Ethan McLaughlin recorded three assists and eight penalty minutes. Last year playing for the Okanagan Hockey Academy, he had 37 points in 36 games.

“We made the difficult decision yesterday to trade defenceman Ethan McLaughlin to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in return for veteran defenceman Darren Rizzolo,” said  Head Coach and GM Scott Atkinson. “Ethan is an outstanding individual and a young player with a bright future in this league, and we wish him nothing but the best in the future. In Rizzolo we are acquiring an experienced BCHL defenceman who can contribute in all facets of the game,”

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks organization would like to welcome Darren and his family to the team, and wish Ethan the best with the Bulldogs.
