The Shaw Centre will be rocking with holiday cheer this weekend!
Saturday night the team is hosting their annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are asked to bring stuffed animals or bagged warm clothing to throw on the ice following the first goal of the game. All items will be donated to the local Salvation Army Branch. Okanagan College will be having a pre-game tail gate party for students, and will have a table setup at the game to showcase class options for next year. Community Futures will also be in the Shaw Centre to promote an event coming up in 2019.
New sponsor Options Okanagan is sending five families to the Saturday game, and will also be providing them with turkey dinners for the holidays! During the second intermission, there will be turkey bowling with a turkey donated from Save-on-Foods, and afterwards the turkey will be donated to a local charity group. Turkey bowling winners can win some Silverback tickets for the new year!
Sunday it’s a 3pm afternoon game against the Vernon Vipers for the final home game of 2018. Salmon Arm is 4-0 against Vernon this season, and the game is sponsored by SASCU which means members get 2-for-1 tickets! Following the game, Silverbacks will be on the ice for a FREE public skate with the team signing autographs. Broadcast sponsor Xplornet will be on hand during this game as well!
