Backs Sign Local Product Lindblad

Salmon Arm B.C. — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are happy to announce the signing of 16-year-old forward Aidan Lindblad, who will join the team for the remainder of the season.

The Salmon Arm product split last season between the U-18 and U-16 Thompson AAA Blazers, scoring nearly a goal-per-game with the U-16 club (15 goals, 21 points in 16 games), before suiting up in 22 games for the U-18 team, where he tallied two goals. In the four games the U-18 Blazers have been able to play this season, Lindblad has three goals.

“Aidan is a special signing for us, as we’ve worked with him over the years and followed his development. After seeing his progress to start the season, we thought he was ready to make the jump to junior,” Silverbacks general manager Brooks Christensen said. “He’s a big, strong, powerful forward and we think he’s ready to make an impact on our roster. We are thrilled to have a Salmon Arm local join our club, especially someone so young with such a bright future. Once fans are allowed back in the building, we have no doubt he will be a fan favourite and represent the community with pride.”

Lindblad also played in two games last season for the Chase Heat in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. Before that, he attended Okanagan Hockey Academy, playing on the U-15 prep team in 2018-19 and the U-15 varsity team in 2017-18. The speedy winger finished fourth in scoring at OHA in the 2018-19 season with 27 points and was third in scoring on OHA the year prior with 28 points.

The 6-foot, 170 pound forward attended Silverbacks main camp this past August. Lindblad was also a huge Backs fan ever since he was little, as you can see in the photo below!
