‘Backs Feed Off Fantastic Crowd

Adam Clark made 44 saves to pick up the shutout on Sunday for the SilverBacks, as they defeated the Powell River Kings 5-0 from the Shaw Centre.

The ‘Backs will be back in action at home on Friday Night, Jan 3rd, hosting Nanaimo.
 
In the game’s opening period, the SilverBacks came out firing, and at 6:30, Michael Roberts netted his first goal as a Salmon Arm SilverBack; letting one go past Goaltender Johan Imoo from Bryden Marsh, and Blake Box. Later, at 17:58, Alex Gillies found the back of the net on his own re-bound, burying his 22nd of the season from Landon Smith, and Brendan Kennedy. 
 
In the 2nd, with Salmon Arm up 2-0, the home team clicked again as Michael Roberts got his 2nd of the hockey game from Andrew Farny, and Mark Whiteley to make it 3-0. 

Rookie Goaltender Jeff Smith; who has the highest save percentage in the league, came in to replace Jonah Imoo for the Kings in net from that point on.
 
Entering the final period of play from Salmon Arm; despite being out-shot 28-15 through the game’s first 40 minutes, the ‘Backs held a 3-0 lead. Landon Smith scored his 33rd of the year from Cole McAskill and Alex Gillies at 4:52, then finally at 13:10, Colton Thibault spotted Jeff Kennedy short-handed, on an odd-man rush; and the assistant captain got his 6th of the season to make it 5-0. 

Adam Clark made 44 saves, picking up his first shutout of the year to give the SilverBacks their 19th victory of the season.
 
The 'Backs now head on Christmas break with two home games to begin 2014, on Friday January 3rd and Saturday, January 4th.
