Backs Drop 2nd Straight in OT

A 2-1 OT win provided a 2-1 series lead for the Vernon Vipers.

Saturday night Josh Latta played hero in Kal Tire Place, and Monday night in Salmon Arm it was Ben Sanderson taking that title.

After 20 minutes of play, shots were only 10-7 in favour of the Vernon Vipers. In the second period, Vernon took control outshooting the home side 15-4, and scored their lone goal in regulation. On a power play, the Vipers worked the puck back to the right point, and Jack Judson took that shot that went inside the right post.

In the third, it took a while for Salmon Arm to get a shot on the board, but once they did the momentum started rolling, and the Silverbacks got the home side on their feet. Driving behind the goal, Hudson Schandor swept the puck out front and Justin Wilson was there to lift the puck into the top corner tying the game at one.

Overtime would occur for the second time in as many games, as Saturday in Vernon the Vipers won 2-1. Both teams exchanged chances, and on an odd man rush, a shot from Matt Kowalski was kicked out and Ben Sanderson was there to knock in the winner.

Game 4 goes Wednesday in the Shaw Centre. Tickets are available Tuesday in the Shaw Centre Box Office from 9am-4pm and Wednesday from 9am-game time. Tickets can be purchased over the phone by calling 250-832-3856.
