Backs D-Man Hartmann Commits to Yale

Salmon Arm, B.C. — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are excited to announce that 18-year-old defenceman Tucker Hartmann has committed to play NCAA Div. I hockey at Yale University.

The Southboro, Mass. native is a new recruit for the 2020-21 BCHL season and spent the past four years at St. Mark’s School, where he totalled 108 points (13 goals, 95 assists) in 112 games.

“It’s an honour to earn this commitment from Yale,” Hartmann said. “I’d like to give a huge thanks to my family, coaches, advisor and friends who have helped me along the way!”

Last season, Hartmann and current Silverback teammate Danny Ciccarello were co-captains at St. Mark’s. Hartmann recorded more than a point-per-game the last two seasons, tallying 37 points in 31 games in the 2018-19 season and then putting up 36 points in just 23 games in the 2019-20 season.

“The Salmon Arm Silverbacks would like to congratulate Tucker on his commitment to Yale University,” Silverbacks head coach Tyler Shattock said. “Tucker’s work ethic and willingness to get better are what set him apart. Yale will be getting a player their fans will be excited to watch for years to come. Tucker is a character kid who will reflect well on their program.”

The Yale Bulldogs compete in the Ivy League and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Hockey League, composed of 12 total teams. They won the NCAA tournament in 2013.
