‘Backs Complete Trade With Surrey

‘BACKS COMPLETE TRADE WITH SURREY

For Immediate Release                    October 1, 2014

Salmon Arm, BC – We are pleased to announce today’s trade with the Surrey Eagles and welcome ’96 Forward Josh Blanchard of Kelowna, BC to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks Junior 'A' Hockey Club.

Blanchard was traded for D-Man Andy Chugg and the coaching staff and teammates wish him all the best in Surrey and in his hockey future.

Blanchard is committed to St. Cloud State (NCAA Div. 1) and played the past season with the Penticton Vees, potting 7 points in 28 games in the 2013/2014 season; however, he was part of a futures deal at the end of the year which saw Josh start with Surrey this year.

Troy Mick, GM/President stated, “We are excited to add Josh to our line-up as we have seen him play a lot in the past year and know the kind of player we are getting. He is from Kelowna so there is a lot of history with him and our coaching staff. He is a committed NCAA player with St Cloud and we are looking forward to him developing with the ‘Backs this season and next before he goes to college. In making this deal we gave up a very good player in Andy but we needed to open up an import spot as we have another import player coming in. We wanted Andy to be able to continue his development in the BCHL and we wish him well.”

Welcome to the team Josh!

The ‘Backs play this Friday at Penticton’s Home Opener and Saturday night at The Shaw @ 6:55 pm. We anticipate another night of outstanding attendance as a Penticton vs. Salmon Arm game is certainly a fan favorite.
