Backs Add Veteran Forward Morrison

Salmon Arm B.C. — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are excited to announce the acquisition of 20-year-old forward Mitchell Morrison from the Burlington Cougars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League in exchange for future considerations.

Morrison, from Guelph, Ont., brings three years of Junior A experience with him, all with the Cougars. Over the course of his career, he has played at nearly a point-per-game pace, tallying 43 goals and 82 assists for 125 points in 141 games. This past season, he scored 14 goals and added 36 assists for 50 points in 47 games, tying him for third on his club in scoring.

“We’re very happy to add an experienced player like Morrison to our forward group,” Silverbacks general manager Brooks Christensen said. “We feel he will mesh well with the recruits and other pieces we’ve added this off-season. Morrison has shown great playmaking ability over the course of his career and he plays a responsible 200-foot-game. We’re looking forward to him contributing in his 20-year-old year and earning an NCAA scholarship.”

Morrison was named to Team Giordano for the 2019 OJHL All-Star Game this past season. He has also improved his point totals each season of junior, beginning with 36 points in his rookie campaign, then adding 39 points in 2018-19, and finally upping his production to 50 points last year. In 13 career playoff games, the 6-foot forward has nine points.

The Silverbacks would like to welcome Mitchell to Salmon Arm!
