6 Silverbacks Alumni Attending NHL Camps

Salmon Arm B.C. – The National Hockey League opened their training camps this past weekend for the upcoming season, and it features a total of six Salmon Arm Silverbacks alumni and 48 BC Hockey League alumni overall.

The six Backs alumni that have hit the ice for NHL camps are as follows:

Forward Taro Hirose — Detroit Red Wings (Silverback 2014-16)

Defenceman Josh Manson — Anaheim Ducks (Silverback 2009-11)

Forward Riley Nash — Columbus Blue Jackets (Silverback 2006-07)

Defenceman Chase Priskie — Florida Panthers (Silverback 2014-15)

Forward Ben Street — New Jersey Devils (Silverback 2003-05)

Forward Travis Zajac — New Jersey Devils (Silverback 2002-04)

Manson, Nash and Zajac have all been full-time NHLers for several seasons. This will be Manson’s seventh NHL campaign, Nash’s ninth and Zajac’s 15th.

Street has played in 59 career NHL games for five different clubs and was the captain of the American Hockey League’s Binghamton Devils last season.

Hirose split last season between the Detroit Red Wings and AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffiths and will look to stick the whole season with the Wings after signing a one-year extension this past summer.

Priskie spent last year with the Charlotte Checkers and Springfield Falcons in the AHL and will be looking to crack an NHL roster for the first time in his career. If he does, he’d be the first South Florida product to ever suit up for the Panthers.
