Tough Loss In Divisional Battle

The 'Backs took a tough loss on Friday Night, at Kal Tire Place in Vernon, dropping a close Interior Division battle; 2-1.

Salmon Arm and Vernon skated to a scoreless 1st Period, with the shots tied 9-9 through the first 20 minutes. The two Brendan's; Brendan Persely and Brendan Kennedy dropped the gloves in the 2nd period, as it was a physical game all throughout between these two rival teams who met for the 4th time this season.

Liam Coughlin opened the scoring, 1:35 into the 2nd period, beating Adam Clark who made 29 stops in the loss. The 'Backs Max Becker was credited with his 4th goal of the season, making the game 1-1.

Both goaltenders were solid; and in the final minutes of the 3rd, the league's best Penalty Kill in Salmon Arm eventually gave up a goal; as Michael McNicholas netted the game-winner, on a late wrist-shot, as the Vernon Vipers ended up taking the game by a score of 2-1. The final score make this the third straight game between these two teams to be decided by one goal.

The Backs are back in action Saturday Night November the 2nd, 2013 from the Shaw Center in Salmon Arm when they host the Victoria Grizzlies!
