Silverbacks Take On Wild In Rematch

The Silverbacks (12-19-0-3) continue their weekend south of the border tonight (Saturday) at the Wenatchee Wild (22-9-1-2) at 7:05pm.

Salmon Arm ‪lost 4-0 in Wenatchee last night (Friday), the Silverbacks sixth straight loss.

The home team opened the scoring at 7:13 of the first period. Trevor Longo took the first penalty of the game, interference at 11:30. The Wild lead 10-8 in the shot clock. Wenatchee went ahead 2-0 at 14:11 of the second. Max Wutzke was called for slashing at 15:11. The Wild outshot Salmon Arm 18-11 in the middle period and 28-19 overall. Wenatchee took a 3-0 lead at 16:17 of the third and 4-0 on the power-play at 19:59.

The Silverbacks gave the Wild seven power-plays in the third period alone. Trey Thomas for high-sticking at 3:28, Tanner Campbell for roughing at 6:52, Ryan Hogg for interference at 10:46, Campbell again for roughing at 13:56, Wutzke for cross-checking at 17:57 and Hayles for slashing 18:27.

Salmon Arm finished 7-for-8 on the penalty-kill and 0-for-2 on the power-play on Friday.

The Wild outshot the Silverbacks 50-23, 22-4 Wenatchee in the third. Reid Cooper made 46 saves in his second start a Silverback and second start in the past three games.

Salmon Arm is still looking for it’s first win in December, outscored now 23-4 during this skid.

The Silverbacks last victory was 2-1 in Wenatchee on Saturday, November 25th.

Salmon Arm’s next action will be a home-and-home set with the Vernon Vipers (24-7-4-1) beginning Friday, December 29th at the Shaw Centre at 7pm and Saturday, December 30th in Vernon at 7pm.
