Silverbacks Host Weekend Double Header

SALMON ARM, B.C.  SEPTEMBER 14th, 2017

The Silverbacks (0-2) host the Penticton Vees (1-0) tonight (Friday), and tomorrow night (Saturday) the Trail Smoke Eaters (1-1) will visit the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm. Each game will begin at 7pm.

The Vees opened the regular season with a 4-2 victory over the Merritt Centennials (0-2) last Friday in the Nicola Valley. Penticton had four different goal scorers.

The Smoke Eaters began with a home-and-home set with the West Kelowna Warriors (1-1). Trail fell 4-3 at home last Friday, and the Smoke Eaters won 4-0 in West-K last Saturday. Ross Armour lead the Smokies with 2 goals and 2 assists.

The Silverbacks opened the regular season last weekend with back-to-back losses to the Vernon Vipers (2-0), 5-1 at home last Friday and 6-5 in Vernon last Saturday. Justin Wilson scored twice, including dropping the gloves at the end of Saturday’s game. Bo Didur was in goal for his first two regular season starts with the Silverbacks, stopping 53 of 64 shots. Last weekend was also the BCHL regular season debut for head coach Scott Atkinson and assistant coach David Killip, each joining returning assistant coach Brooks Christensen.
