S’Backs Have Double-Header At Home

The Silverbacks (10-12-0-2) will be on home ice for back-to-back games this weekend. Salmon Arm will host the Cowichan Valley Capitals (2-16-1-3) tonight (Friday) and at home to the Trail Smoke Eaters (17-5-0-1) tomorrow (Saturday), each 7pm starts at the Shaw Centre.

Salmon Arm is 1-4-0-0 in November and 7-5-0-1 at home. The Capitals are 0-3-1-1 in November and 0-11-0-1 on the road. Cowichan Valley beat the Silverbacks 5-1 in the Cowichan Valley on Saturday, October 28th.

Salmon Arm lost 8-2 on the road in Trail last Sunday, after a 5-3 come-back victory last Friday night at home over the Merritt Centennials (8-11-1-2).

Tanner Campbell, Justin Wilson and Marcus Mitchell each missed last weekend, and each listed as injuried. Akito Hirose was injured for Sunday’s game. Bo Didur sat out last weekend as well, and he along with the injured scratches did not make the trip to Trail.

The Silverbacks have parted ways with second season defenseman Spencer Hora, and West Kelowna acquired the 18-year-old Kelowna product last Friday in exchange for future considerations. Salmon Arm also shipped 20-year-old defenseman Mitch Stapley of Vancouver to the AJHL’s Calgary Canucks in exchange for futures.

Salmon Arm has acquired defenseman Trevor Longo who made his Silverbacks debut last weekend. The 17-year-old is from White Rock and played four games this season with the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL but was released. The Silverbacks have also acquired goaltender Reid Cooper from the Coquitlam Express, the 19-year-old is from Corman Park, Sask.

The Silverbacks organization will be saluting all of the members and families of the Shuswap Ambulance Paramedics this weekend. The Silverbacks will be wearing special themed jerseys as a way to say Thank you for keeping our community safe and to give respect to these hard working people. The jerseys will be up for auction online and also during the Silverbacks games this weekend.
