Pro-Am Classic Set For Tuesday

NHL stars and SilverBacks players will take the ice Tuesday in the annual Salmon Arm Hockey School Pro-Am Classic (7:00, Shaw Centre).

Organizer Tom Marsh has worked hard to produce what looks like a very entertaining line-up for tonight’s game. Salmon Arm welcomes back local minor hockey product and first round pick of the Ottawa Senators, Curtis Lazar.  After two outstanding seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings, Lazar makes his first appearance in the summer classic.

Other NHL notables expected to be in the line-up include Andrew Ference and Chuck Kobasew, who both made an appearance in the Pro-Am game a few years ago. Ference's new Edmonton Oilers teammates, Ryan Smyth and Jerred Smithson are also expected to attend.

Other local NHL talent this evening includes Sicamous product Cody Franson, who spent last season in Toronto.

Several SilverBacks will hit the ice tonight in advance of the team's training camp, which begins Sunday. Tonight’s lineup will feature Bryden Marsh, Blake Box, Shane Hanna, Mitch Ferguson, Jeff Kennedy, Alex Jewell, Alex Gillies and Adam Clark, as well as Vernon Vipers forward Logan Mick.

Fans attending tonight's game can win a houseboat vacation courtesy of Twin Anchors Houseboat Company. Proceeds from the raffle will go Okanagan College and the Pro Am Scholarship funds.

Thank you to Panago Pizza, Brushstrokes, Lakeside Printing, Tim Horton, all volunteers and especially the players for taking part in tonight’s summer classic. Game on!
