Home Opener Provides Two Points

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks picked a good time to nab their first win of the young season; in front of a noisy crowd at the Shaw Centre on opening night.

Alex Gillies and Colton Thibault both netted a pair of goals for the 'Backs; who notched five consecutive markers following Vernon's lone goal of the game, which came early in the 1st Period.

Salmon Arm got a huge boost 12 minutes into the contest, when 'Backs Captain Blake Box scored a win in a great scrap against Vernon's Ryan Renz.

Alex Gillies' two goals on the evening give him a total of four on the season; already, while the markers by Jack Berezan, Colton Thibault and Connor Brown-Maloski are all the first goals of their BCHL Careers.

Angus Redmond was named as the 'Backs 2nd star of the game, as he turned away 33 pucks, including a number of fine opportunities on seven seperate Vipers' power-plays.

The 'Backs will be happy with the victory, as it brings them into the winning circle, early in the season, although there's more work to be done tomorrow night in Vernon, when they visit the Vipers during their own home opener, for a 7pm puck-drop.
