Chasing The Dream

Salmon Arm SilverBacks Athletic Therapist Chris Mikolajek has only been with the team for a few months, but for the second time in his tenure with the 'Backs, he'll be catching a flight to represent his Country, behind the scenes.

Mikolajek recently returned from the Team Canada West training camp in Calgary, and now, looks forward to a Saturday flight to Winnipeg to assist Canadian Olympic Curling hopefuls at the Roar Of The Rings.

He says he expects his role as an Athletic Therapist to take on a bit of a different look with Curlers, as opposed to Hockey players "I expect a more hands-on type role, helping to prepare those athletes with stretches and massages to make sure they can compete at their best."

The Men's and Women's team winners at the event will have the opportunity to represent their Country at the 2014 Sochi Olympics; Mikolajek says that's similar to his own goal "With the Olympics it's all about the experience, so if I can get my feet wet now, maybe there will be some hope in two years, or four years from now; it would be a dream."

The SilverBacks would like to congratulate Chris on another wondeful opportunity to represent the Maple Leaf, in his hometown, of all places.

Former 'Backs Trainer Troy Clifford will be supporting the SilverBacks needs at home at the Shaw Centre, during the Week-long tournament in Manitoba.
