Backs Tanner Campbell BCHL Player of the week

Salmon Arm Silverbacks forward Tanner Campbell has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 28, the league announced Tuesday.

Campbell tallied four goals and four assists in his team’s three wins last week. The Kelowna, B.C. native started the week by scoring two goals and an assist in his team’s 5-2 road win over the Langley Rivermen and was named the game’s first star. He followed that up on Friday night with a goal and an assist and was again named the first star of the game as his team pulled out a 7-6 double-overtime win at home over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Campbell finished the week by scoring a goal and two assists the following night as the Silverbacks won again in overtime, this time by a score of 4-3 over the Surrey Eagles. He was named the third star of the game.

Campbell’s 31 points (12-19-31) this season are good enough for second-most on the Silverbacks. Led by his strong performance this week, Salmon Arm is only four points back of the West Kelowna Warriors for fifth place in the Interior Division.
