‘Backs Lose Close Game In West Kelowna

The SilverBacks inability to score on four 1st Period power-plays may have proven costly in Friday's contest at Royal LePage Place; in West Kelowna, as the Warriors scored timely goals on home ice, for a 5-3 victory.

Landon Smith's 1st BCHL goal got Salmon Arm into the game; in the 2nd Period, after the 'Backs fell behind 2-0 in the first half of the middle frame, before Alex Gillies and Evan Anderson were able to bring their club to a mere 4-3 deficit after 40 minutes.

The 'Backs out-shot West Kelowna by a measure of 32-30 on Friday, and earned a number of quality scoring chances on the evening, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities, aside from their three 2nd Period goals.

West Kelowna's late 2nd Period goal, for a 4-3 lead, was insured by an empty net marker, late in the 3rd, that secured victory for the home squad.

Angus Redmond was solid in net for the 'Backs, with 25 saves, including a number of chances in the 3rd Period.

Salmon Arm hosts the same West Kelowna Warriors on home ice, tomorrow, at 7pm.
